[YTM] 30.0 What Yeshua is Doing in Heaven?

After His resurrection and ascension, Yeshua the Messiah continues an active and essential ministry in heaven. Scripture affirms that He is exalted at the right hand of the Father, where He rules with full authority, intercedes on behalf of His people, prepares a place for believers, and sends the Holy Spirit to empower His Church.

Seated at the Right Hand of God

Mark 16:19 declares that Yeshua was taken up into heaven and sat at the right hand of God. This position symbolizes supreme power, honor, and equality with the Father. As God the Son, He shares divine authority; as the incarnate Messiah, He sits as Judge and King over all creation. The right hand in biblical understanding represents the highest dignity and rulership (Psalm 110:1). Because He faithfully fulfilled the mission of redemption, all authority in heaven and on earth is now given to Him (Matthew 28:18).

His seated posture also signifies the completion of His sacrificial work: the price for sin has been fully paid (Hebrews 10:12). Yet He is not idle. Like the vision given to Stephen (Acts 7:55-56), He stands ready as Advocate for His people. Yeshua continually intercedes for believers, defending them against accusation and providing grace in every need (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25; 1 John 2:1).

Preparing a Place for His People

Yeshua’s ascension assured His disciples that He was going ahead to prepare a dwelling place for them in the Father’s house (John 14:1-3). His presence in heaven is the believer’s guarantee of eternal life. Paul explains that through His triumph, He opened heaven for the redeemed and leads God’s people into eternal inheritance (Ephesians 4:8-10). Because He is “the way, the truth, and the life,” He Himself remains the only path to the Father (John 14:6).

Sending the Holy Spirit

One major purpose of Yeshua’s ascension was the sending of the Holy Spirit. He told His disciples that it was better for them that He go, because only then would the Helper come (John 16:7). From the throne, He poured out the Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:33), empowering the Church to fulfill the Great Commission. Through the Spirit, Yeshua remains spiritually present with His followers, guiding, strengthening, and teaching them (Matthew 28:20; John 14:26).

The Spirit distributes spiritual gifts—apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers—to build up Christ’s body (Ephesians 4:11-13). Believers become ambassadors of the Kingdom, witnessing in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).

Ruling Until His Return

From heaven Yeshua reigns over all powers and authorities (Ephesians 1:19-21). He waits until every enemy is brought under His feet, completing God’s redemptive plan (Romans 11:25; Psalm 110:1). His current heavenly ministry assures the Church that He will return in glory just as He ascended (Acts 1:11).

Conclusion

Yeshua’s work did not end at the cross or even at the resurrection. In heaven today He is:

• Reigning as King
• Interceding as High Priest
• Preparing a place for believers
• Sending and empowering the Holy Spirit
• Guiding the Church’s mission
• Waiting to return as victorious Lord

Thus, Messiah’s heavenly ministry continues to sustain, strengthen, and secure His people until He comes again.
