[PYM] 9.0 Yeshua’s Promises on Power & Miracles

The ministry of Yeshua was filled with demonstrations of power and miracles, revealing the nature of God’s kingdom—bringing healing, deliverance, provision, and authority over nature and evil. But Yeshua did more than perform miracles; He promised that His followers would also walk in power to continue His mission. These promises span the Gospels, are fulfilled in Acts, and echoed in the eternal vision of Revelation.

In Matthew, Yeshua performs many miracles—healing the sick, calming storms, feeding thousands, and raising the dead. But He also commissions His followers with power: “And when He had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease” (Matthew 10:1). Yeshua connects faith with miracles: “for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you” (Matthew 17:20). After the resurrection, He promises enduring power to carry out His mission: “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:18–20).

In Mark, Yeshua’s miraculous works continue, and He directly promises that believers will perform signs: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:17–18). Mark highlights not only Yeshua’s power but also His expectation that this power would continue through His followers.

In Luke, Yeshua is filled with the Holy Spirit’s power (Luke 4:14) and declares His mission to bring healing and freedom (Luke 4:18–19). He sends out the seventy-two disciples with power: “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name” they report (Luke 10:17). Yeshua responds, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19), assuring them that spiritual authority will mark their ministry.

In John, Yeshua’s miracles are called “signs” pointing to His divine identity. He turns water to wine, heals the blind, raises Lazarus, and feeds the multitude. He promises even greater works to His followers: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12). He also promises that whatever they ask in His name, He will do (John 14:13), linking prayer with miraculous power.

In Acts, Yeshua’s promises come alive. At Pentecost, He fulfills His words: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Miracles multiply: the lame walk (Acts 3), the dead are raised (Acts 9), and demons are cast out (Acts 16). The apostles act boldly in the Spirit’s power, continuing the miraculous ministry Yeshua began.

In Revelation, Yeshua is revealed as the Lamb with ultimate power. His final acts are full of miraculous authority—defeating evil, judging the nations, and creating a new heaven and earth. He promises to the overcomers a share in His victorious rule: “And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations” (Revelation 2:26). He is the source of all power, and His reign ensures the final, miraculous renewal of all creation. Yeshua not only displayed divine power and miracles—He promised that His followers would walk in the same power through the Holy Spirit. From healing and deliverance to bold proclamation and authority over darkness, His power flows through believers to glorify God and advance His kingdom. His word remains true: “You will receive power…”—and that promise still empowers today.
