[TP] 52.0 Yeshua is Rejected at Nazareth and Jerusalem

And it came to pass, that when Yeshua had finished these parables, he departed thence.

And when He was come into His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? (Matthew 13: 53-54; Luke 4: 16-17; Mark 6: 1-2)

And there was delivered unto Him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written,

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

And He closed the book, and He gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on Him.

And He began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

And all bare Him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son? (Luke 4: 17-22)

Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not His mother called Mary? and His brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

And His sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? (Matthew 13: 55-56; Mark 6: 2-3)

And He said unto them, Ye will surely say unto Me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

And He said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. (Luke 4: 23-24; Matthew 13: 57; Mark 6: 4).

But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

And rose up, and thrust Him out of the city, and led Him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast Him down headlong. But He passing through the midst of them went his way,(Like 4:25-30)

Because they did not have faith, he did not perform many miracles there, except that he placed his hands on a few sick people and healed them. He was greatly surprised, because the people did not have faith. (Matthew 13: 58; Mark 6: 5-6)

And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. And Yeshua walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch.

Then came the Jews round about Him, and said unto Him, How long dost Thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Messiah (Christ), tell us plainly.

Yeshua answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.

But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

I and My Father are one.

Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. Yeshua answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

The Jews answered Him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Yeshua answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

If I do not the works of My Father, believe Me not.

But if I do, though ye believe not Me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.

Therefore they sought again to take Him: but he escaped out of their hand,

And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there He abode.

And many resorted unto Him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true. And many believed on Him there. (John 10: 22-42)
