These three virtues are central to believer’s [Christ Follower] life and theology, often mentioned together in the New Testament, especially in 1 Corinthians 13:13:
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
1. Faith
- Definition: Trust and confidence in God and His promises.
- Key Verse: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1
- Role: Faith connects believers to God. It’s through faith that we receive salvation (Ephesians 2:8–9) and live in obedience to Him.
2. Hope
- Definition: Confident expectation in God’s future promises, especially eternal life.
- Key Verse: “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” – Hebrews 6:19
- Role: Hope sustains believers through trials and helps them persevere, trusting in God’s goodness and future restoration.
3. Love (Agape)
- Definition: Selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love that reflects God’s nature.
- Key Verse: “Love is patient, love is kind… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4–7
- Role: Love is the highest virtue. It fulfills God’s law (Romans 13:10) and is the mark of true discipleship (John 13:35).
In Summary:
- Faith believes,
- Hope anticipates,
- Love acts.

[YTM] 42.0 The Judgment
Every human being will one day experience the power of God in resurrection. Just as surely as death is unavoidable, resurrection and judgment are also certain. This is possible because the people who enter the Millennial Kingdom will be a mixed group in terms of their bodies: some will possess resurrected, glorified bodies, and others will remain in natural, mortal bodies.…
